Jerris 'Quick the Poet' Evans
Last night we kicked off the 'Artists Getting Coffee at the Gallery' interview series with the one and only Jerris 'Quick the Poet' Evans. The event was modestly attended, but those who were there got to be part of a wide ranging discussion highlighted by two of Quick's most personal poems. It was a night not to be missed. I look forward to working with Jerris again in the future any chance I can get. He is an amazing talent and a true gentleman. It was my honor to kick off my little interview series with him.
Quick has his big FLO'Pocalypse event this Saturday at the Broward Center. There are a handful of tickets left. You really don't want to miss this! Get tickets here. At last count there were less than 40 tickets available for the event of the summer.
Now back to shamelessly promoting myself and IAMLAKEWORTH. Tonight (Thursday 7/12 7-8 pm) at HATCH 1121 (1121 Lucerne Ave) in our second of three interview events that are part of IAMLAKEWORTH. Blanche Williams from Jazz on J Street will be hosting a photographer's roundtable. Featuring, Shawn Moss, Adriano Ficarelli, Tom Johnson and myself. Blanche will be leading a discussion about photography, art and Lake Worth with four photographers who document life in Lake Worth in different ways. This should be a great event. The event is sponsored by Common Grounds Coffeehouse. There will be great coffee and we will be raffling off a free $25 gift card to Common Grounds. I hope to see you there!
